Taylor Swift Eras Tour 2023

It has been 8 days since I went to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour in Houston with my two besties & I still cannot think about it without crying. I know that may seem dramatic, but it was life changing.

On Saturday, April 22 Sam and I drove to Winnie, Texas (just outside of Houston) to stay at Kelsey’s for the night. We got to see her & Rance’s new house & hang out for the evening. Then, the next morning we drove to Houston & got our hotel to get ready for the Taylor Swift theatrical experience. *It was so much more than a concert but for the sake of the blog, I will use concert.* Before we went to the concert, we went to get matching-ish tattoos. We call ourselves Fucking Foreheads (FF for short) for obvious reasons, so we all got a Taylor Swift inspired tattoo with FF incorporated.

Swifties will get the tattoo references. Sam’s is the mirrorball, Kelsey’s is the snake, & mine is the birdcage. FF is at the top of mine but that area bled a lot, so you can’t see it well in this picture.

After we got our tattoos, we went back to the hotel to get ready for the evening. We did our hair & make up & got dressed in our Taylor Swift inspired outfits. The concert started at 630 with two openers, & Mother was planned to hit the stage at 8pm. Our Uber picked us up at 5pm & we had a short walk to NRG Stadium. We couldn’t help but laugh & smile when we walked into the stadium. The Swiftie energy is UNMATCHED. People were kind & happy & vibing & the crowds were manageable because everyone was just so happy. EVERYONE at the concert was dressed in something that represented a Taylor Swift Era. It was magical walking around seeing the outfits people picked out. My outfit represented the Red album, Sam’s outfit represented the song Maroon & Kelsey’s outfit represented the Reputation album. And we looked fine as fuck.

Before we found our seats, we had to get snacks, of course. We were not about to be standing for 3 and a half hours on an empty stomach. So we all got hot dogs, & sat in our seats during the openers because we knew we were going to be standing for the entire time Mother was performing.

Then the time came & the concert clock struck Midnight (Swiftie reference)…

FREAKING out at this point

I have been editing these two videos for the blog, & have watched them at least five times this morning & cry every.single.time. It was so special & moving to be part of this – I cannot even describe it. My only regret is that I didn’t get the whole opening act. It had clips of every Taylor Swift Era & it was just incredible. *Photo of my crying eyes below.* In some of the photos & videos you can see small lights. When we got to the stadium, they gave us these bracelets that lit up. During the performance, they changed colors & flashed on cue with the songs that were played. It was definitely a completely immersive experience.

Those are a few pictures of the very beginning of the concert. It was difficult to choose which photos to put in the collage because I have so many good ones & we were so freaking close. I wish I could put into words how freaking incredible it was, but it really takes being there & experiencing it first-hand to really understand. It was captivating. Beautiful. Raw. Emotional. People were screaming & singing every lyric to every song. We hardly sat down for 3.5 hours & when we did sit down it was for a quick minute or two while she did an outfit change. I am just going to post pictures & videos below because to experience it is the best way to describe it.

I just love how precious she looks here.
I have no idea what this was supposed to be a picture of, but I love it so much because it really shows my level of excitement.
This performance was…gat damn, so sultry & sexy.
Willow
…ready for it?
Bejeweled

Taylor performed for a straight 3.5 hours. She didn’t take a single break & the only time she left the stage was for short (one to two minute) periods of time to change her outfits. The last song she played was Karma from the Midnights album & right before she played it she said, “do y’all have time for just one more song?!” And the crowd went WILD.

After the performance was over, it really didn’t take too long to get out of the stadium. If you think about it, it was a little scary to have all of those people (probably like 60-70K) leaving at the exact same time, if you know what I mean. It probably took us about 30 – 45 minutes to get from our seats (which were really good) to our Uber which had to park in a shopping center parking lot due to the traffic. On the way to get our Uber, we ordered Dave’s Hot Chicken & had it delivered so that it would be there waiting on us when we got back. After standing for that long & singing our damn lungs out, we were starved.

As happy as I am that the three of us got to experience this together, I admit that I am sad it is over. Taylor Swift is a remarkable performer & just as I predicted, I am a different person having experienced it. It is hard to put into words what it felt like experiencing that with my two best friends. It was fun & exciting & emotional & gravitating & healing. We were up until about 2am the night of her performance & it took about 72 hours for me to finally feel rested.

I would 100X yes go to another one of her tours. Actually, I would be lying if I said I haven’t looked up tickets at future venues to see if I would be able to go to another one.

I will forever remember this night as one of the best of my life with my two Best Friends.
